New Season

DC, Blagden Alley
*blows dust off* *taps microphone* Is anyone out there?  Wow.  It's been so long since I've logged in and drafted a post.  I wasn't even sure if I remembered my password (obviously, I did).  So, what have I been doing?  What am I up to?    Well, I've officially launched my photography business!  I know I mentioned in a couple of posts that this was a goal of mine and I can now check it off the list!  It's really been exciting and fulfilling.  I really love it and find myself thinking and planning and brainstorming all the time.  I've gained several clients these first 2-3 months and the shoots have been fun (and mostly cold).  And the feedback from my clients has really encouraged...

Big Score for a Big TV Sweepstakes with Aaron’s

NFL, New Orleans Saints
This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Aaron's Inc.. The opinions and text are all mine.   Can you believe that football is back?! It really seems like this was the longest off-season ever. Actually, last season seemed pretty long to me as well, because my team was extra average and I was just ready for the season to be over. But with the start of a new season, our hopes are renewed in our teams and we all think that our team is going to the Big Game. Am I right? Ok, even if you don't really believe it about your team, you'll say it just to trash talk fans of your division rivals.   If I'm not at...

Introducing Simplicity & Style Studio

Mango pants, Forever 21 top
Photos: Jennifer Jean-Pierre   If you check out the menu bar above, you'll notice that a new page has been added, Simplicity & Style Studio.  One thing that I'm very passionate about is personal style.  I make very conscious decisions about what I purchase and what I wear.  You might be surprised to see that I don't piles of piles of clothes in my closets.  I've become a minimalist as I've gotten older.  I just don't like a lot of stuff in my closets nor in my home in general.  When it comes to personal style, it's all about knowing what you like and what looks good on you.  You don't need lots of clothes to achieve your perfect image.  What you...

5 Tips For Giving Back To Your Community

Summer Whites
One thing that is important to me is giving back to the community.  I've been blessed in so many ways and I know that it's my civic duty to help those in need.  People sometimes think that giving back means giving a lot of time or money, but it really doesn't.  It's really all about how much you want to give and trust me, every little bit helps.  Also, sometimes you might just now know exactly how you can give back, so I've got a list of tips to help you out.   Here's one thing that most people can do - go through your closet and pull out any everyday items that you have not worn in the last year.  If...

Events:  A little over a week ago, my best friend, Alexia, came up for the Formation World Tour.  This is our 4th Beyonce concert together, so it's kind of become tradition that we see Beyonce each tour.  It's like, "Oh, Beyonce is about to have another tour?  Here's my money, Bey."  A few weeks before the concert...

Tee, orange skirt, Marshalls
Esq Tee (c/o Nikki Panache) Skirt (Marshalls) Heels (Saks OFF 5th) Cole Haan Sunglasses (Marshalls) Necklace (The Limited) Bracelet (Versona) Photos: Alex Kotran Photography   This past weekend it was COLD here in DC.  Like bypass fall, hello winter kind of cold.  Ok.  Maybe I'm exaggerating a little bit.  Nah, it was cold.  I had to pull out my jacket and then later my winter coat.  I wore my brown floppy hat (see my Instagram, BlitzAndGlam, for a look at the hat) and I even put on my gloves at one point.  If I feel like this during fall, I'm dreading how I will feel when winter actually arrives.  Ugh.  Thankfully, it's supposed to warm back up a bit this week and reach the 70s.  Whew!  A little more...

A Last Look At Summer

Blue Gap Dress
Dress: Gap Shoes: Off Broadway Shoe Warehouse Necklace: The Limited Clutch: Borrowed from sister Photography: Alex Kotran Photography   Can you believe that summer is over and fall is officially here??  I simply cannot believe that October will be here this week.  Didn't September just start last week?  I always say that spring is my favorite season, but I really like fall just as much.  I love wearing blazers and jackets, boots and booties.  My only problem with fall is that the actual fall-like weather doesn't last long enough.  It seems like we have cooler temps for about 2 weeks and then it's full-on winter weather.  And I am NOT ready for winter.   Anyway, I wore this dress a couple of weekends ago to the DMV Bloggers...

Welcome Back, Football

Majestic New Orleans Saints
This post is sponsored by Majestic Athletic.   This is the time of year when so many students are going back to school, but all I can think about is that it's time to get back to football!  *insert your best touchdown dance*  Oh, football season!  Why did you leave me for so long?  Never mind that now.  I'm just happy to have you back.    With the return of football, I've been thinking about my wish list of games that I would like to attend this season.  The Saints come to DC to take on the Washington football team and they will also be in nearby Philadelphia playing the Eagles.  And I would love to get down to New Orleans for a home game, because...
