New Season

DC, Blagden Alley
*blows dust off* *taps microphone* Is anyone out there?  Wow.  It's been so long since I've logged in and drafted a post.  I wasn't even sure if I remembered my password (obviously, I did).  So, what have I been doing?  What am I up to?    Well, I've officially launched my photography business!  I know I mentioned in a couple of posts that this was a goal of mine and I can now check it off the list!  It's really been exciting and fulfilling.  I really love it and find myself thinking and planning and brainstorming all the time.  I've gained several clients these first 2-3 months and the shoots have been fun (and mostly cold).  And the feedback from my clients has really encouraged...

Beautiful As You Are

movode_t-marbury-2
When is the last time you left home without makeup?  For me, it's often routine to put on a little corrector and concealer, powder, eyeliner, mascara, and maybe eyeshow, blush, and lipstick, before heading out for the day.  It's the rare occasion that I just wash my face, moisturize, and go.  Well, recently, not only did I do just that, but I headed straight to Movode photography studio to sit for some complimentary portraits.  Makeup free.  Yes, you read that right.  I had some portraits done wearing absolutely no makeup.  I mean, who does that?  Well, thanks to Movode, many women are.  Movode believes that beauty is the ability to be comfortable with who you are, so they created the #BeautifulAsYouAre...

District of Clothing

District of Clothing, Steadfast Supply DC
I recently attended the preview of Steadfast Supply at Navy Yard in Washington, DC.  Steadfast Supply is a retail and communal workspace that connects local brands with the DC community.  One of those local brands that I love, and I must admit that I'm biased because it's owned by my friend Dionna, is District of Clothing.  But I'll be honest and say that regardless of that fact, it's an awesome brand.    Dionna created District of Clothing to send positive messaging, display local pride, and promote a can-do mentality.  If you consider yourself a "doer," this brand is for you.  You'll find t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, and kids apparel with messages such as "Dreamer Doer" and "DC Dope" and "Don't Boo. Vote."  District...

My Day in DC with Enterprise CarShare

Banana Republic Shirt dress
*This post is sponsored by Enterprise CarShare.  All opinions are my own.*   The Sunday before my birthday, I had the opportunity to test out Enterprise CarShare.  Enterprise CarShare is a car-sharing service that allows you to rent a car by the hour, day, or overnight.  Here is Washington, D.C. they have cars parked all over the city and many locations within walking distance to my home.  I simply open the Enterprise CarShare app on my phone and it's already set to my market in Washington, D.C.  I have my location default as my current location.  I select a date and time to start and end use of the vehicle and then select the type of vehicle I want.  The app then searches...

The Offline Society Turns 1

Offline Society, Washington DC
If you live in the DC area, you're single, and you're interested in meeting new people, then you should check out The Offline Society.  The Offline Society "curate(s) gatherings for the romantically unattached who appreciate the value of chemistry and conversation."  They recently invited me (and a friend) to attend their Offline Birthday Fete at Wonderbox in Washington, DC.  As promised, it was a night of good music, good food (the mac and cheese balls were delicious!), cocktails, and fun.  And the location was perfect - an event space in an alley at the border of Northwest and Northeast DC.  But my favorite part was meeting new people and taking fun photos in the photobooth.    If you're interested in learning more, check out their...

Dress: Chicwish (similar, similar, similar) Shoes: Target Clutch: (similar, similar) Photos: Jennifer Jean-Pierre     *This post contains affiliate links.  Click on Disclosure above to read the full policy.*   Ah!  It's been too long since I've been able to get a regular "this is what I'm up to" post up on the blog.  However, if you follow me on Instagram (BlitzAndGlam), then you can keep up with what's happening with me. Events:  A little over a week ago, my best friend, Alexia, came up for the Formation World Tour.  This is our 4th Beyonce concert together, so it's kind of become tradition that we see Beyonce each tour.  It's like, "Oh, Beyonce is about to have another tour?  Here's my money, Bey."  A few weeks before the concert...

Gilt City X Offline Society

Offline Society
I recently attended an event hosted by Gilt City and Offline Society at Bonfire in DC that celebrated "Dating In The District" - the launch of GiltCity.com's collection of spring dating ideas curated by Offline Society.  You might be wondering, "What is Offline Society?"  The Offline Society hosts authentic, unpredictable experiences for romantically unattached men and women.  They curate each event to create a comfortable atmosphere for mixing and mingling.  This event was no exception.  We mixed and mingling over delectable bites and cocktails.  (This particular event was not labeled as a dating event, but I did get hit on and asked for my number.  I told him that he's too young for me.)  If you and your friends are in the area...

EXPLORE: Smithsonian Gardens

Smithsonian Gardens 3
If you live in the DC area or plan to make a trip up soon, you must add the Smithsonian Gardens to you list of places to visit.  I love to explore DC on the weekends and now that it's warming up a bit, I will definitely be out and about more with my camera.  This past Saturday, my friend Emma invited me to join her at the Hirshhorn Museum for a guided tour of the modern art exhibit.  Our tour guide was great and I enjoyed the tour, but let me tell you something.  If you have dreams of being an artist, don't let anyone tell you that you can't be an artist.  If someone can put a video camera...
