My Caribbean Vacation

Maho Beach St. Maarten
A couple of weeks ago I returned from my vacation with my Dad and my sister, Zuri.  We spent 6 days cruising the Caribbean from Jacksonville, Florida to St. Thomas, St. Kitts, St. Maarten, and Puerto Rico (we flew back from San Juan).  This was my second cruise this year/ever.  I'll be honest.  I wasn't sure how this was going to go.  6 days at sea.  With family (waves to my family who might be reading this.  Love ya!).  But it turned out great!  My sister and I specifically decided on a cruise, because we knew that everyone would be able to do their own thing while we were on the ship and we wouldn't all have to be under each...

EXPLORE: Smithsonian Gardens

Smithsonian Gardens 3
If you live in the DC area or plan to make a trip up soon, you must add the Smithsonian Gardens to you list of places to visit.  I love to explore DC on the weekends and now that it's warming up a bit, I will definitely be out and about more with my camera.  This past Saturday, my friend Emma invited me to join her at the Hirshhorn Museum for a guided tour of the modern art exhibit.  Our tour guide was great and I enjoyed the tour, but let me tell you something.  If you have dreams of being an artist, don't let anyone tell you that you can't be an artist.  If someone can put a video camera...

Nassau, Bahamas

Nassau Bahamas ootd
I'm back from my cruise to the Bahamas (well, I've been back for a week now)!  If you read my last post, then you know that this was my first cruise and it was pretty much everything that I expected.  If you're looking for a vacation that's great for chilling and relaxation, book a cruise.  Our cruise left Port Canaveral (Orlando) Thursday afternoon.  We boarded the ship around 1 pm and went straight to grab lunch.  The ship set sail at 4 pm and by that time we had checked into our rooms and decided that we all needed naps before dinner.  We changed and headed back out to the dining room at our assigned dinner times.  After dinner we caught the...

Bahamas Packing 2
**This post contains affiliate links.  Click on Disclosure above for the full disclosure.**   Bikini halter top: c/o Athleta Cole Haan sunglasses: c/o Marshalls   Today I'm off on my first getaway for the year and I am so excited!  I'm flying to Orlando this morning and meeting up with my Alpha Kappa Alpha line sisters/sands/sorors to catch a cruise to Nassau, Bahamas to celebrate our 17th Anniversary!  This is my very first time taking a cruise, because I never thought that I would enjoy one.  I've always thought, "Why not just fly directly to where I want to go rather than spend days on a ship?"  (Plus, I get motion sickness sometimes, so I wasn't sure how that would play out.  I ordered some Queasy Drops...

Good-Bye, Charlotte and Hello…

Forever 21 tee, Distressed jeans, Marshalls handbag
Tee: Forever 21 Jeans: Old Navy Handbag: c/o Marshalls Heels: Saks OFF 5TH (c/o Concord Mills/Simon Malls) Location: Uptown Charlotte Photos: Lindsay Wynne Photography   What can I say about Charlotte?  I resisted moving here from Atlanta for 6 months and instead commuted each week to work.  It took quite some time to let Atlanta go and to give Charlotte a real chance.  But eventually, I did and I began to like it.  But now, it's time to move on.  It's been a great 5+ years here.  I've met some great people and had some amazing opportunities here in Charlotte.  But sometimes you get to a point where you know it's time to move on.     I'd considered moving for a couple of years.  I thought about moving...

GO: New York City

I cannot believe that it had been 2 years since I last visited New York City!  For a while there it seems that I was there several times a year.  I will not let another 2 years go by before I go again, because it is one of my favorite cities, if not THE favorite.  Thankfully, my Dad wanted to take a trip to NYC and invited me and my sister along with him.   We did many touristy things which was fun, because when I do go to NYC, I don't ever really do the typical tourist attractions.  Usually, I'm there for business or a particular event.  When we arrived (me by plane via JFK; them via Amtrak from Maryland since...

Sometimes You Just Need To Get Away

Have you ever just wanted to hop in your car and drive?  Just getaway from the sometimes hum-drum of your everyday life and experience something new?  I have.  In fact, I had that feeling recently.  I think winter probably does it to us most often, because we spend so much time indoors and there are so many cold, gloomy days that you just want something fresh.  A couple of weekends ago, I decided to hop in my car and drive to Florida - Jacksonville to be exact (this is where I apologize to my friends who live in Jacksonville that I didn't get to see. It was a quick trip.  I'll be back.).  I was so over the cold weather...

My Travel List 2015

Each year I like to make a list of the places I want to travel to that year.  Each year, I try to go at least one place that I've never been before. Last year, that was San Juan, Puerto Rico.  The year before that it was Las Vegas, San Francisco, and San Jose.  This year, my list keeps growing, so I thought that I would document it here on the blog before it gets really out of hand.  I didn't travel nearly as much last year as I have the previous few years, so I've got a lot of places that I want to go this year.  We'll see how many places I'm able to cross off my list...

Home For The Holidays #WUHomeCooked

I spent my Christmas holiday back home in Alabama.  I could not wait for Christmas, because I was so looking forward to going home.  It was my first time going home since last Christmas, believe it or not (I couldn't believe it.  I'm going to do my best to make it back home before next Christmas!).  And since it had been a LONG time since I've taken a road trip, I decided to pack up my car and hit the road to Alabama (I'd forgotten how much I like taking road trips).     I arrived home in Killen, Alabama (just outside of Florence, which is about an hour west of Huntsville) on Christmas Eve just in time for my Mom's side...
