GO: New York City

I cannot believe that it had been 2 years since I last visited New York City!  For a while there it seems that I was there several times a year.  I will not let another 2 years go by before I go again, because it is one of my favorite cities, if not THE favorite.  Thankfully, my Dad wanted to take a trip to NYC and invited me and my sister along with him.   We did many touristy things which was fun, because when I do go to NYC, I don't ever really do the typical tourist attractions.  Usually, I'm there for business or a particular event.  When we arrived (me by plane via JFK; them via Amtrak from Maryland since...

I’m Riding To Stop Diabetes

Fuji Bike: Performance Bicycle Sam Edelman jacket: c/o Marshalls Shirt: c/o Marshalls Cynthia Rowley jeans: Belk Chucks: Off Broadway Shoe Warehouse Crossbody: c/o Marshalls Betsey Johnson earrings: Belk Helmet: Performance Bicycle Location: Dilworth (Charlotte) Photos: Lindsay Wynne Photography   On September 26, I will be riding in the American Diabetes Association Tour de Cure in Washington, D.C. as a Red Rider.  A Red Rider is any rider who has diabetes.  *raises hand*  That's me.  In order to ride, I must raise a minimum of $200, but, of course, I hope to raise much more than that.  Right now, I'm training to do the 13 mile ride and would love your support to help me reach my fundraising goal and exceed it.  Head over to my fundraising page to make a donation.   Keep checking back...

In The Trench

Sam Edelman Trench Coat: c/o Marshalls Shirt: c/o Marshalls Cynthia Rowley Jeans: Belk Chucks/Converse: Off Broadway Shoe Warehouse Handbag: c/o Marshalls Betsey Johnson earrings: Belk Location: Dilworth (Charlotte) Photography: Lindsay Wynne Photography   My style has been described as preppy or classic with a twist.  I tend to go for classic pieces, but I sometimes mix them with something edgy or trendy.  This jacket is a good example of that twist.  A trench coat is a classic piece.  You'll never hear anyone say that a trench is out of style.  If you want to stay super classic, you'll go for a neutral color - black (which I have), white, tan, or maybe even navy.  If you want to add a twist, you go bold like this orange Sam Edelman trench...

What To Wear To The Kentucky Derby

Dress: Petal (Charlotte) Hat: Petal (Charlotte) Shoes: ShoeDazzle Necklace: c/o Belk Bracelets: Petal (Charlotte) Photography: Erin L. Hubbs for Style Media   If you follow me on Instagram (BlitzAndGlam), then you saw that I was on the Fox 46 Charlotte morning show, Good Day, Carolinas, the week before Easter.  The segment featured looks that are perfect for Easter and/or the Kentucky Derby.  I have never been to the Kentucky Derby, but it is on my bucket list.  When I do go, this look above is exactly what I would go for.  When I visited Petal in Charlotte to pick out a look, I knew this dress would be the winner as soon as I saw it.  It was perfect.  Petal added the hat and stackable bracelets and I added my own...

Orange You Happy

Philosophy blouse: c/o Marshalls Pencil skirt: c/o Marshalls BCBGeneration heels: DSW Cork clutch: Just Fab Location: NoDa (Charlotte) Photography: Lindsay Wynne Photography   I have had the best shopping luck lately!  Take this look for instance.  I found this blouse and skirt at Marshalls a couple of weeks ago.  I tried this blouse on with jeans and with this skirt, and while it looks great with both, with this skirt you get the perfect outfit.  Why is it perfect, you ask?  When I was thinking of what to write about this look, I thought this could be a great date night look.  Then I thought office to happy hour look.  Then I thought church.  As you see, this look could work for any of those occasions and more....

Nautical Stripes

Dress: c/o Marshalls Blazer: The Limited Heels: Payless Handbag: c/o Marshalls Belt: The Limited Location: Plaza Midwood (Charlotte) Photography: Maya Elious   When I was little my Mom would always buy me and my sister new dresses for Easter.  As an adult, I cannot tell you the last time I bought myself a new Easter dress, if ever.  This year I will spend Easter weekend in Atlanta visiting friends, so I want to wear a dress that's easy for packing, that I can dress up for church, and that I can dress down for the rest of the day (and that will be comfortable for my drive back to Charlotte).  This dress from Marshalls fits the bill.  Plus, nautical stripes.  'Nuff said.  So, if you see me on...

Oh, Happy Day!

Theory blouse: c/o Marshalls Rockstar jeans: Old Navy Steve Madden sandals: c/o Marshalls Necklace: c/o Belk Betsey Johnson earrings: Belk Bracelet: c/o Versona Accessories Cork handbag: Just Fab Location: Plaza Midwood (Charlotte) Photography: Maya Elious   The day I took these photos had to be the most perfect day ever.  Or at least this year.  The sun was shining, the temperature was in the mid-70s, and a nice, cool breeze was blowing.  My photographer and I hung out in the Plaza Midwood area of Charlotte where people were out walking their dogs, riding bicycles, having lunch outside, and strolling in and out of local shops.  I couldn't resist stopping at the King of Pops cart to see what types of popsicles they offer (I didn't have any cash on me at the...

What’s Making Me Happy

Can you believe that it is already March?  This year is flying by and spring is just around the corner (I'm keeping my fingers crossed that spring temperatures come with it) and I cannot wait.  The thought of spring just makes me so happy, so I thought that I would share a few things that I'm loving and a few things that are making me happy right now.   This A. Bellucci leather tote courtesy of Marshalls.  I had been looking for the perfect white handbag and this is it!  It's made of genuine leather, so I know it will hold up when I put all of my stuff in it like my DSLR camera, my journal, my planner, a magazine or two, a...

Sometimes You Just Need To Get Away

Have you ever just wanted to hop in your car and drive?  Just getaway from the sometimes hum-drum of your everyday life and experience something new?  I have.  In fact, I had that feeling recently.  I think winter probably does it to us most often, because we spend so much time indoors and there are so many cold, gloomy days that you just want something fresh.  A couple of weekends ago, I decided to hop in my car and drive to Florida - Jacksonville to be exact (this is where I apologize to my friends who live in Jacksonville that I didn't get to see. It was a quick trip.  I'll be back.).  I was so over the cold weather...

Good-Bye…And Hello

Yesterday, the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks took on the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX in Glendale, Arizona.  In case you're the one person who didn't watch the game or tune in just for the commercials, the New England Patriots are the new Super Bowl Champions.  The end of the Super Bowl means the end of football season.  My team's season pretty much sucked so I cannot say that I am sad to see this season come to an end.   With football season over and so many TV hours free, I started thinking of what shows I am excited about that will be starting soon or in the next couple of months.   The Walking Dead.  I just binge-watched this on Netflix and AMC's website at the...
