Let’s Collaborate

A few months ago I signed up to participate in a pretty cool blogging project.  Three blogging communities decided to join forces and pair bloggers from the different communities together to coLABorate on a blog post or a series of blog posts.  I bet you're thinking, "Did her caps lock key just randomly stick for 3 letters? And does she know how to spell collaborate??"  Nope!  I capitalized those letters for a reason.  The three communities working together on this project are the Latina Bloggers, Alt Summit, and Blogalicious communities!  And the name of the project is, you guessed it, coLAB.  So, I was paired up with Rebekah of RebekahAnne.com.  We thought it would be fun to introduce ourselves to...

President Obama Town Hall in Charlotte

Wednesday, April 15, President Obama came to Charlotte to hold a Town Hall meeting and I had the honor of attending (special shout out to my Mom, Lisa Stone, BlogHer, and SheKnows)!  The President's main focus for the discussion was equal pay and other economic and financial issues affecting families.  Here are some of the comments that stood out to me and that I live-tweeted (follow me on Twitter @BlitzAndGlam):   On more women going into science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM): The number of women going into forensics skyrocketed after CSI because women saw other women in that field.  Girls and women must see themselves in these fields.  On small business: Every big business started as a small business. On childcare: It is important to...

Red Carpet + VIP Screening of Brotherly Love Starring Keke Palmer & Quincy Brown

Sunday, March 1, I had the opportunity to work the Red Carpet at the VIP Screening of Brotherly Love starring Keke Palmer, Quincy Brown, Romeo Miller, Cory Hardrict, Macy Gray, and more.  Lead stars Keke Palmer and Quincy Brown walked the red carpet prior to the screening of the movie and held a question and answer session immediately following the movie.  Romeo Miller was scheduled to attend, but had a dental emergency related to recently removed wisdom teeth.  Cast member Chris Jarell was also in attendance.    Home Depot's Retool Your School initiative sponsored the screening, which was held in Charlotte at Studio Movie Grill at the Epicentre.  Retool Your School is a grant program in its sixth year that will award three...

Fall Fashion From Concord Mills

Cropped jacket (Banana Republic Factory Store) | Blouse (Banana Republic Factory Store) | Pencil skirt (Banana Republic Factory Store) Guess booties (Off Broadway Shoe Warehouse) | Necklace (c/o Versona Accessories) | Clutch (c/o Versonal Accessories) Earrings (c/o RocksBox) | Cole Haan Sunglasses (c/o Marshalls)   As you know, I had the pleasure of working with Concord Mills recently on a Fall Fashion segment on Charlotte Today on WCNC.  Concord Mills gave me a $250 Simon American Express card with the mission of putting together a fall look for the career woman.  Being a career woman who loves fall fashion, I was super excited about this opportunity.  I mean, fall is made for fashion.  Think blazers and jackets, boots and booties, menswear inspired looks, texture, and fall colors.   When I arrived at...

Dr. Travis Stork For Crest Pro-Health

Saturday I had the opportunity to attend the Shape Magazine Diva Dash at Riverbend Farm in Midland, NC.  Thanks to Crest and Crest Pro-Health I had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing Dr. Travis Stork from the TV Show The Doctors.  Dr. Stork has partnered with Crest to discuss how oral care is an important part of your overall health.  So, I sat down with Dr. Stork to ask him a few questions about oral care and the new Crest Pro-Health Tartar Protection.   As a person with diabetes, can you tell me the importance of good oral care for people with the disease?   Although we're still learning how it's all tied together, the fact that so many diabetics have oral health issues,...

What I Wore + Interview With NFL Creative Fashion Director Phillip Bloch

Saints Tee (c/o Phillip Bloch) | Chip & Pepper Jeans (c/o Belk) | Leather Jacket (c/o Marshalls) Boots (Nine West/DSW) | Gold Necklace (Target) | Gold Earrings (Target) Photo by Lindsay Wynne Photography   A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of interviewing Celebrity Stylist and NFL Creative Fashion Director Phillip Bloch.  After the interview, his team sent me a Saints tee that I couldn't wait to style.     He started the conversation by telling me that we have a few things in common:  he likes the Saints, he likes Charlotte, and he likes the name of my blog (at this point, he instantly became my friend in my head).  I started out by asking him what his job entails as the Creative Fashion Director for the NFL.   I work...

Interview – Cam Newton Showcases MADE Cam Newton At Belk

Belk Customers and Carolina Panthers fans were waiting for the doors of the store to open Saturday morning hoping to get the chance to meet their superstar quarterback, Cam Newton.  I had the opportunity to spend Saturday afternoon with Cam as he showcased his clothing line, MADE Cam Newton at Belk Southpark in Charlotte.  We spent a few minutes chatting before he headed downstairs to greet his fans.   Tamara:  What’s your favorite piece in the line?   Cam: [My] favorite piece would have to be the suit combinations.  You know, I think this line was built off of mix and match mentality so if you were to have a favorite pair of slacks, a favorite pair of jeans, a favorite Polo shirt…I’m not...

Blitz And Glam Featured on Examiner.com

A couple of weeks ago, New York Fitness Examiner Nadia Murdock asked if she could interview me.  When I heard the word "fitness" my immediate response was, "I'm definitely not a fitness expert."  She then explained that she wanted to talk to me about my blog, how it came about, and my lifelong love of sports.  I am most certainly an expert on me and my blog, so I said of course.  Nadia asked me the following questions: When and why did you create Blitz And Glam? Have you always been a lover of football? Football requires a lot of endurance.  Will I catch you on the field anytime soon? If you did play football what position would you play and why? In what ways have you...

The 400M Diva: My One-On-One Interview with Olympic Gold Medalist Natasha Hastings

Olympic Gold Medalist.  4-time World Champion.  Wilhelmina Model.  Daughter.  Sister.  Girlfriend.  I recently had the opportunity to speak with USA Track & Field star Natasha Hastings about her journey to the 2012 London Olympics, posing for ESPN The Magazines's The Body Issue, and dating Arizona Cardinals cornerback William Gay.    Tamara:  Let's start off by talking about something BIG that's happening this summer, the 2012 London Olympics.  You are already an Olympic Gold Medalist, having won the 4x400M relay in Beijing.  What would it mean to you to represent the US in the London Olympics?   Natasha:  It would certainly mean a lot more for a couple of reasons.  Obviously having gone before, I have a little bit more experience and I'm hoping to...

Meet Kelly Campbell of the Baltimore Charm

After learning the basics about the Lingerie Football League, I started wondering, "who are the women playing in this league?"  So, I decided to chat with Kelly Campbell, #3 for the Baltimore Charm, to get an insider's take on the LFL.  Kelly is not only a corner/defensive back for the Charm, but she is also the team's Marketing Manager.   Tamara:  Have you always been a football fan?  Are you a fan of the NFL?  If so, who’s your team?   Kelly:  Yes, I was bred to be a lover of all sports, especially football. Born and raised a Dallas Cowboy fan. My first cheerleading outfit was Cowboys.   Tamara:  Did you play sports growing up?   Kelly:  Yes I started dancing at age 4, cheering at age 7, recreationally and competitively, and I continued those through...
