The Offline Society Turns 1

Offline Society, Washington DC
If you live in the DC area, you're single, and you're interested in meeting new people, then you should check out The Offline Society.  The Offline Society "curate(s) gatherings for the romantically unattached who appreciate the value of chemistry and conversation."  They recently invited me (and a friend) to attend their Offline Birthday Fete at Wonderbox in Washington, DC.  As promised, it was a night of good music, good food (the mac and cheese balls were delicious!), cocktails, and fun.  And the location was perfect - an event space in an alley at the border of Northwest and Northeast DC.  But my favorite part was meeting new people and taking fun photos in the photobooth.    If you're interested in learning more, check out their...

Gilt City X Offline Society

Offline Society
I recently attended an event hosted by Gilt City and Offline Society at Bonfire in DC that celebrated "Dating In The District" - the launch of GiltCity.com's collection of spring dating ideas curated by Offline Society.  You might be wondering, "What is Offline Society?"  The Offline Society hosts authentic, unpredictable experiences for romantically unattached men and women.  They curate each event to create a comfortable atmosphere for mixing and mingling.  This event was no exception.  We mixed and mingling over delectable bites and cocktails.  (This particular event was not labeled as a dating event, but I did get hit on and asked for my number.  I told him that he's too young for me.)  If you and your friends are in the area...

#GetInTheGroove with State Farm [Sponsored Post]

Disclosure: The following content has been sponsored by State Farm®.   Do you ever stop and think about what would happen if you had chosen a different path at some point in your life?  I try not to think about it too much, because I like to think that everything happens for a reason.  But occassionally (usually when I'm tired of work and in need of a vacation), I think "what if I had chosen a different major in college and what if I had never gone to law school?"     I graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a degree in Accounting, but I remember at one point thinking of changing my major to broadcast journalism.  I sometimes think that...

President Obama Town Hall in Charlotte

Wednesday, April 15, President Obama came to Charlotte to hold a Town Hall meeting and I had the honor of attending (special shout out to my Mom, Lisa Stone, BlogHer, and SheKnows)!  The President's main focus for the discussion was equal pay and other economic and financial issues affecting families.  Here are some of the comments that stood out to me and that I live-tweeted (follow me on Twitter @BlitzAndGlam):   On more women going into science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM): The number of women going into forensics skyrocketed after CSI because women saw other women in that field.  Girls and women must see themselves in these fields.  On small business: Every big business started as a small business. On childcare: It is important to...

Red Carpet + VIP Screening of Brotherly Love Starring Keke Palmer & Quincy Brown

Sunday, March 1, I had the opportunity to work the Red Carpet at the VIP Screening of Brotherly Love starring Keke Palmer, Quincy Brown, Romeo Miller, Cory Hardrict, Macy Gray, and more.  Lead stars Keke Palmer and Quincy Brown walked the red carpet prior to the screening of the movie and held a question and answer session immediately following the movie.  Romeo Miller was scheduled to attend, but had a dental emergency related to recently removed wisdom teeth.  Cast member Chris Jarell was also in attendance.    Home Depot's Retool Your School initiative sponsored the screening, which was held in Charlotte at Studio Movie Grill at the Epicentre.  Retool Your School is a grant program in its sixth year that will award three...

2014 Black Friday Deals

The last few years I've stayed away from the stores on Black Friday.  In fact, last Thanksgiving I was in the Bay Area and spent Black Friday sightseeing in San Francisco.  It didn't even occur to me that it was Black Friday.  This year, I've been a little curious about what the sales will be like on Black Friday. Here's what I've found for some of the stores that I'm going to check out (probably from the comfort of my home):   Off Broadway Shoe Warehouse: Buy One, Get One 50% off + 50% off 50 Styles Banana Republic Factory Store: 50% everything now through Sunday.  Thursday and Friday take 60% off all sweaters Belk (In-Store Only until 1 pm): Extra 25% off single...
