GO: New York City

I cannot believe that it had been 2 years since I last visited New York City!  For a while there it seems that I was there several times a year.  I will not let another 2 years go by before I go again, because it is one of my favorite cities, if not THE favorite.  Thankfully, my Dad wanted to take a trip to NYC and invited me and my sister along with him.

We did many touristy things which was fun, because when I do go to NYC, I don't ever really do the typical tourist attractions.  Usually, I'm there for business or a particular event.  When we arrived (me by plane via JFK; them via Amtrak from Maryland since my Dad had flown there the day before), we went to the top of the Empire State Building.  I had been by it many times, but I had never gone up.  It was cloudy when we were there, but we were still able to get a good view of the city.  Later, we went to Times Square and did the Big Bus Tour of downtown Manhattan and over the Brooklyn Bridge and back to Manhattan.  Unfortunately, on the way back it started raining.

Now, how perfect was the timing of this trip?  We were there for the U.S. Women's Soccer World Championship Ticker Tape Parade!  It was cool to be part of such a historic event.  After the parade we took a boat cruise out to the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge.  We ended the night by hanging out at Herald Square, popping into the Macy's there, and even caught a beautiful view of the Empire State Building lit up in red, white, and blue in honor of the U.S. Women's National Team.

Our last day there we went to Rockefeller Plaza and caught the Big Bus Tour through Uptown Manhattan and part of Harlem.  Afterwards we did some shopping on 5th Avenue and then it was time to leave.

If you live in New York, what's your favorite part of the city?  If you're like me and love to visit, what's one thing that you must always do when you go?  And if you've never been, book a flight, train, bus, or hop in your car today!

LOVE THIS! I recently just wrote an eBook mini travel guide for NYC for people that visit lol .. I LOVE going to times square at night. For some reason I'm still taken back by all the big buildings and lights and I've lived here my whole life! LOL

Glad to see you've finally got to check out some of the attractions. (I think you got almost everything on my list in my book lol) Now when you go back you gotta try some of the restaurants! :)
