Have you ever just wanted to hop in your car and drive? Just getaway from the sometimes hum-drum of your everyday life and experience something new? I have. In fact, I had that feeling recently. I think winter probably does it to us most often, because we spend so much time indoors and there are so many cold, gloomy days that you just want something fresh. A couple of weekends ago, I decided to hop in my car and drive to Florida – Jacksonville to be exact (this is where I apologize to my friends who live in Jacksonville that I didn't get to see. It was a quick trip. I'll be back.). I was so over the cold weather and wanted to feel the sunshine on my face and some sand between my toes. I wanted to be somewhere new for a couple of days and have my own little adventure. I think there's nothing that makes me feel more grown-up than traveling alone, particularly to somewhere I've never been before (these bills that I have should be what makes me feel grown-up, but I digress). I love to see new places, new people, and experience new things. I hope that this will be the first of many spontaneous weekend road trips this year. There are many places within driving distance, some I've been to before and some I haven't, that I want to visit this year. For now, add this trip to the "Travel Somewhere I've Never Been Before" column.
