There's a funny story behind these heels. Remember when I went to San Juan, Puerto Rico Memorial Day weekend with my best friend, Alexia? Well, our first day there, we were out walking looking for dinner. We both had on out cute but comfortable shoes, because we didn't know how much walking we would do before we decided where we wanted to eat. I had on a pair of my favorite caged sandals from Marshalls, the tan Nine West sandals, and Alexia wore her cute wedge sandals that she got from an outdoors store. Being from an outdoors store, you just know that they will be durable and very comfortable for walking, right? Wrong. Half way through our walk, I see Alexia stumble and we look down and see that it's because the front strap on her wedge sandals broke. The super essential strap that goes across the toes. My first reaction? Fits of laughter. I mean, I was doubled over laughing at this situation. Even Alexia had to laugh at our predicament. I mean, she couldn't walk in this broken wedge with only the ankle strap intact; the shoe would be dangling from her ankle. We were nowhere near the hotel and too hungry to catch a taxi back to the hotel so she could change shoes. She decided that she had no choice but to take her shoes off and walk barefoot to find a local shop to buy some flip flops. We found one after about a block and she was able to purchase some flip flops so that we could continue on our hunt for dinner. This story is probably a lot funnier in my head than I'm relaying it. You probably had to be there.
So, the next day, Alexia decided that she wanted to look for some more shoes, because those wedges were her main shoes for the weekend. We were planning to wear nice dresses that night and she needed some dressier shoes than the flats that she brought and the flip flops that she bought the day before. When we were sightseeing in Old San Juan, we ran upon a Payless Shoe Source. We looked at each other and thought, "Why not?" Imagine our surprise when we both found cute shoes that we liked. I saw these floral ankle strap heels and thought that they were so cute, so I tried them on and found that they were also comfortable. Plus, I was wearing an all-white dress that night and knew these would be just the shoes to make my outfit perfect. Alexia happened to find about 3-4 pairs of shoes that she liked. Specifically, she zeroed in on their line of comfort shoes called dexflex Comfort. As an optometrist, she's on her feet a lot during the day and is always looking for cute, comfortable work shoes. I must admit that the shoes she picked out, a mix of flats and wedges, weren't bad. I didn't try them on for comfort, but she's since told me that she's been wearing them regularly and that they are comfortable. And my shoes? I've worn them several times since I bought them in San Juan and every time I wear them I get compliments, especially from men. I found a couple of pairs of floral ankle strap heels in case you want to buy your own conversation starter. *wink*
