I turn 35 this Saturday, August 9. When I think back to where I thought I would be at 35, this isn't it. And that's not a bad thing. When I was little, I just assumed that I would be married with kids at this age, because 35 was old and that's just what old people did. Ha! When I was in law school I never imagined that just 10 years post-graduation I would be more than ready for my post-legal career (Victoria's Secret model, full-time blogger, anything in social media, sports, or fashion). And 6 years ago when I moved to Atlanta from Maryland, I never would have thought that I would have packed up yet again (ok, that part's not true. I move a lot so that wasn't a big surprise) and moved to Charlotte. And let me tell you. Four and a half years ago, you could not have told me that I would still be living here in Charlotte today. But things in life happen for a reason.
Had I been married with kids, in love with practicing law (I never was), or living somewhere other than Charlotte, I probably wouldn't have my passion project, Blitz And Glam. And let me tell you what else I never could have imagined. I never could have imagined that I would be a blogger sharing my love of football and fashion with you guys. I never could have imagined that I would have met people like Cam Newton, worked with brands like Marshalls, Belk, and Athleta (or have them want to work with me!), or have so many friends that I've met via blogging and social media. As much as I sometimes want some things in life to be different, I'm also extremely thankful for where I am. I have absolutely no idea what the future holds and I kind of like it like that. The best thing about being 30+ is that you really begin to accept and embrace who you really are and stop dwelling on who you thought you would be. So, Happy 35th Birthday to me, a daydreaming, smartphone addicted, introvert with extrovert tendencies, independent, witty, wanderlust who doesn't like being told what to do.
Oh yeah. This cute, black dropwaist dress? I scored it at Old Navy on clearance for $5.96. Yep. $5.96. And one of my favorite ways to wear it is with a fitted crew neck tee over it. Super cute.
