Recently I was sent the Samsung Galaxy Note II so that I could test out the new NFL Mobile from Verizon. Being a Verizon customer I was already quite familiar with NFL Mobile, but I was very excited to see what Verizon was bringing to the app this season. If you're not familiar with the app, then the first thing that you must know is that you are able to select your favorite team so that when you open the app, there is a tab giving you all of your team's news and scores. Well, when it arrived to me in Charlotte, it was already set to the Panthers as my favorite team. Nice try. I quickly went to the Settings and changed it to the Saints.
So, I decided to test the app out on Game Day (Sunday and Monday) in real situations when I would most likely use the app. So, I headed out to have lunch Sunday afternoon just before the 1 pm games when my Saints would take on the Falcons in New Orleans. I kept the app open the entire time to keep up with what was happening in that game and to keep up with the scores from the other afternoon games.
The app really kept me updated and I felt like I wasn't missing a play from the game. I know if I need to be away from the TV, I can definitely count on the app. Since I didn't NEED to be away from the TV this time, I headed home after lunch to watch the rest of the games on TV.
Monday night I decided to test out NFL Mobile from Verizon in the spot I'm most likely to be late on a work night – in bed. So I hopped in bed with my magazines and the Samsung Galaxy Note II and tapped on the app (hey, that kinda rhymes). This is by far my favorite feature of the app – the ability to watch the Sunday, Monday, and Thursday night games live right in the app just like you're watching it on TV!
So, what else do you get for the $5 monthly fee? You can watch NFL Network, shop the NFL Shop, buy tickets to the game, and watch lots of video extras. Totally worth $5 a month.
