This past weekend,
Beyonce, Queen Bey, Mrs. Carter came to Charlotte and shut it down. Not only was she here, but my best friend since the 2nd grade (we met in Girl Scouts) also came to town from Birmingham for the big concert. We bought our tickets months ago during the presale and thought that this weekend would never arrive. But it did. And it did not disappoint. Let's start from the beginning…
Alexia and her friend Danielle (who was also coming to Charlotte to see Beyonce with her friend) arrived late Friday night. All four of us ended up having a late night dinner at Midnight Diner in South End. I'd heard good things about it and I was pleased with my almost-midnight breakfast of whole wheat toast, country ham, and hash browns. I will be returning. This was pretty much where the night ended for me and Alexia as we were both exhausted.
So, if you follow me on Instagram or Twitter (BlitzAndGlam), then you know that I had an optometry appointment earlier in the week. It's time for some new glasses. Well, Alexia has been my optometrist since she graduated from optometry school, but since I live a little far to be popping in for an eye exam, she recommended a local optometrist. I asked Alexia to pick out some cute frames at her office (Advanced Eye Care in Homewood, Alabama) to bring with her. She did such a great job picking out frames that I had the hardest time deciding which ones I wanted and THEN I knew I couldn't get just one pair. I reached out to my Instagram and Twitter followers and Facebook friends for their help.
I almost drove Alexia crazy when I was trying on the frames for what seemed like hours. I just couldn't decide! I finally decided Saturday evening before the concert and I'm happy with my frames. Stay tuned to see them in a future post. After trying on frames that morning, we headed to Southpark Mall and did a little shopping at LOFT. We intended to hit up more stores, but got hungry and walked down to Maggiano's for lunch. After lunch we walked back through Belk to head to the car when a display of bracelets caught our eyes.
After shopping (we made a couple of other stops at Staples and Target), we headed back home for naps (I never got around to taking one) and then to get ready for the Mrs. Carter Show. I never wear lipstick, but I decided that I wanted to wear a bright color to the concert so I picked up some Revlon lipstick in Fuschia at Target. I love it! I think I found my signature shade. (I kept playing around with frames while we were getting ready.)
Then we walked to Time Warner Cable Arena for the Mrs. Carter Show World Tour! Heeeeey Mrs. Carter! So, we originally had tickets in the 200 section because that was the best available during the presale. Well, when we got to the Arena the ticket taker scanned our tickets and told us to go to the ticket window. We got there and learned that we had been upgraded to the lower level club lounge! We were in the 3rd row from the second stage! I'm pretty sure that Beyonce saw me.
It was a great show and a great weekend! Have you been to the Mrs. Carter Show World Tour? Did you have as much fun as we did? Also, I'd love to hear which frames you like best.
