Last week I was contacted by Stylist Allie at St. John in Southpark Mall here in Charlotte. She said that she's been a fan of my blog and would love for me to come in and check out their latest collection at St. John. Knowing that a lot of people's perception of St. John is "grandmotherly" and "frumpy" (her words, not mine, but I agreed), she wanted to show me that in this case, perception is not reality. So, Saturday I headed out to Southpark Mall to meet Allie and the rest of the St. John team to see if I would walk away with a new perception of St. John. Let me just tell you right now that my answer is YES!
Hanging out at St. John today with stylist Allie!

Allie had already pulled some pieces for me before I arrived, but she walked me around the boutique to get my opinion of some of the other pieces and to see if there was anything else that caught my eye. Indeed there was, so we grabbed it up and added it to the pieces that I would model for them. For full disclosure, there were a few pieces that I saw in the boutique that I told Allie were grandmotherly (which is fine because grandmothers need nice clothes too), but might look better on than on the hanger (I did not try those pieces, but instead stuck to the ones that really caught my eye). Allie did a great job of picking out pieces ahead of time – they were all pieces that I would have picked out myself. So, Allie brought me a glass of wine and sent me to the fitting room to get started.
My previous perception of @stjohnknits was grandmotherly. After the first two dresses I tried on…don't sleep on St. John.

I fell in love with every piece that I tried on. I seriously wanted to leave the mall with everything in my hands. These were straight off the racks, but they fit like they were tailored to my body. Amazing fit and so comfortable! I could see myself wearing these looks to the office, for date night, or for a night out with the girls. My favorite look might be with black dress with the gold zipper (although when Allie asked me which was my favorite I really had a hard time picking just one). This dress is sophisticated sexy. I told the ladies that some of the pieces are very Jackie O. (which I LOVE because Jackie O. is one of my style icons) with a modern twist. For the last look, I put my sweater and jeans back on and tried on the jacket with my clothes. I told Allie this is definitely something I would wear for a night out with my girls. Oh. And did I mention that the first dress is the same one Robin Roberts wore for the Good Morning America post-Oscars show? Gorgeous!
I need to win the lottery so I can take all of these dresses home with me. @stjohnknits

As a thank you for coming in and checking out the latest collection, St. John allowed me to select one of the pieces of jewelry above. So, which one did I choose?
THANK YOU to Allie and the rest of the St. John team at Southpark Mall! I had so much fun and look forward to doing it again! Which of the above looks is your favorite? Be sure to visit your local St. John and/or visit St. John Knit online.

I must say that I shared the same opinion about what was sold at St. John’s. My mom has always had to convince me to come with her while she shopped in there as opposed to finding a more age appropriate store for me. I am amazed at the pieces that were pulled for you. They were awesome (I believe my favs were the black and white and the yellow dresses but I loved them all). Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
You’re welcome! Honestly, the photos don’t even do the clothes justice. The black and white dress was a favorite too. It fits beautifully and is perfect for the office. You should definitely go and try on a few things!
These look amazing on you. i loved the dress that Robin wore. The color was great on you.
