Earlier this week, the NFL announced that the No. 10 jersey worn by Washington Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III (RGIII) has sold more than any other jersey in a single season (based off the sale of jerseys at nflshop.com). Since his jersey is selling so well, I thought that I would take a look at the jersey options for women (I'm quite sure a lot of those sales are by female RGIII fans). Recently, one of my fellow NFL bloggers, Reeta (@theNFLchick), took a poll on Twitter regarding some NFL topics and what women want out of their football experience. One response in particular caught my eye. One of her followers said that she would like to be able to buy more regular jerseys designed for women and not just pink jerseys for her favorite players. It shocked me that she wasn't aware that Nike makes jerseys especially fitted for women for every team.
I'm someone who had not considered wearing a football jersey on game day, because I'm not into one size fits all clothes. But then, when I was in NYC for the NFL and Nike's Back To Football Photo Shoot, I saw how well Nike's women's jerseys fit (see the Buffalo Bills jersey my friend Christina is wearing above). This is not your fathers/husbands/brothers/boyfriend's jersey. Check out how the other Christina dressed up her tailored fit Arizona Cardinals jersey.
Head over to the NFLshop.com to check out the jerseys available for your favorite team (I'm currently eyeing the New Orleans Saints Drew Brees jersey). Which player's jersey would you buy and how would you style it?
