Can you believe that it has been 2 years since I started Blitz And Glam with my first post?? Wow! I can't, but I can say that I have enjoyed every minute, every idea, every experience, every photo, and every post (even those when I had Blogger's Block and had no idea what to post about that week). I've enjoyed sharing myself and two of my favorite things, football and fashion, with you and I want to say THANK YOU to everyone who has read a post (and especially thankful if you've read many posts), left a comment, shared my posts, taken photos of me for my posts (my tripod thanks you), given me ideas and suggestions (at least one of which I still plan to implement), given me encouragement, cheered me on and congratulated me during the good times (there have been many), patted me on the back during the bad (Bountygate), told a friend, family member, or coworker about my blog (you all have a wonderful way of making people believe that I'm a STAR *wink*)…I could go on and on. I also want to thank the wonderful brands that I've had the opportunity to work with over the last 2 years (check out the Contact page for a shout-out to each brand).
The last couple of weeks I've given some thought about why I blog and since I've successfully committed to doing it for 2 years now, I thought that I would share my thoughts with you.
Community: One of the absolute best things about being a blogger is that I am a part of a wonderful community. I've made some great blogger friends over the last 2 years, some of whom I've only communicated with via social media and others whom I've had the pleasure to meet in real life. We all blog about different things and have different blogging styles, but the fact that we all BLOG has brought us all together. And when we get together, whether for a conference, a meetup, an event, or just because, we have a blast. Once you commit yourself to blogging, it truly becomes a part of who you are and there's no one who understands it better than a fellow blogger.
Outlet: In addition to being a blogger, I'm also a lawyer. While the law isn't always black and white, it definitely doesn't work the creative side of my brain the way blogging does. When I'm blogging and engaging in social media, I feel more in my element than when I'm lawyering, but lawyering is what pays 99.9% of the bills…for now…
Opportunities: Blogging has opened up many opportunities for me and I hope to one day be able to do what I love (blogging, social media, TV, public speaking, writing) full-time in one capacity or another. *smiles*
Experiences: As I said before, I've had some truly amazing, once-in-a-lifetime experiences these last 2 years from meeting my football crush a couple of times (just call me Tam Newton) to being selected as one of Charlotte's 25 Most Stylish to participating in the NFL and Nike's Back To Football Photo Shoot. I look forward to the many opportunities and experiences to come!
So, tell me. Why do you blog?
