If you follow me on Twitter and Instagram (both @BlitzAndGlam), then you know that I spent last week in one of my favorite cities, New York City, courtesy of the NFL and Nike. I was one of 32 lucky NFL fans chosen to participate in the first ever Back To Football photo shoot! I, of course, represented my New Orleans Saints. This opportunity could not have been more perfect for me! (Excuse me if I use a lot of exclamation points in this post, but I'm still on a high from this experience.) As soon as I arrived at LaGuardia and saw someone holding a sign with my name on it, I knew that everything about this trip was going to be first class (not that I expected anything less from the NFL or Nike). Check out my ride (a GMC Denali)!
We were allowed to bring one guest with us on the trip, so I invited my friend, Trina (The Baby Shopaholic), who did a great job as my behind-the-scenes photographer/cheerleader. Her flight arrived to New York about an hour after mine and she had the same car (with her name) waiting for her when she arrived. Since the photo shoot wasn't until the next day, we spent that day having lunch, shopping, and then resting up (I think we both needed that day off) for the big day. The next day all 32 Fan Style ambassadors and their guest were split up into groups to head out for the photo shoot. The guys started EARLY in the morning (6 am-ish I believe). Thankfully, my group got to sleep in a bit longer before we headed over to the Skylight West studio at 9:30 am. We were told to arrive makeup free.
I was whisked off to get my nails done first.
My Lady Gaga-inspired nails (in black and gold, of course) were sick! Then I was off to get my hair done by my stylist, Eric Williams, who did an amazing job. He was told to give me beachy waves, but he said that my hair was too thick and would just look poofy, so he did curls. He was also told to put a blonde streak/extension in my hair, which I loved.
After my hair was done, we pinned it back so I could get my makeup done. Oh, how I wish I could have my makeup artist come and do my makeup everyday – she made me look fierce!
After nails, hair, and makeup, I was taken by my wardrobe stylists to get ready for my first look. Before I started my shoot, the DJ asked what music I wanted playing while I was in front of the camera, so I told him that I wanted Jay-Z.
See the markings on the floor above? That's where we were to place our feet during the shoot. The stylists popped in and out during the shoot to take the shine off my face, fix my hair, and adjust my clothes.
Then we had 1 minute to change into my second look. I kept the tee on under the sweatshirt, and we thought that the skirt would hide my shorts if I kept those on too, but we realized they were visible when I got in front of the camera, so I had to take them off.
It felt like I jumped 100 times (ok, it was more like 10) and because I had on a tee and sweatshirt under those hot lights, I thought that I was going to pass out! Then another photographer took me outside for some more shots.
I pulled Trina in front of the camera so I could get a picture of the 2 of us. Since Trina is a fellow blogger and likes to capture events with photos as much as I do, I'm so happy that she was able to come to NY with me. She worked very hard to capture these great photos with her camera and mine.
A million thank yous to our photographer (I will have to get his name) who gave great direction and kept us pumped up during the shoot and to our team of stylists from Thomas Faison who made us look incredible! And I cannot thank the NFL (Thank you, Johanna and Josephine!) and Nike enough for this amazing opportunity! Here are a few of my final photos that NFL Fan Style and Nike posted on their Facebook pages (along with the very first photo at the beginning of the post). They are going to send us many more photos, so I will be sure to share those with you as well! Stay tuned for another post (or 2) about my Back To Football trip, including behind the scenes photos of some of my fellow Fan Style ambassadors and other events that we attended during our trip.
