Mo Isom, a fifth-year senior and goalkeeper for the LSU's women's soccer team, is trying to make history this week when she tries out for the LSU football team as a placekicker. The six-foot senior began working with the football team in the fall practicing kickoffs and field goals. If she makes the team she will be only the third woman to play football in NCAA history (Katie Hnida kicked for New Mexico in 2003 and Ashley Martin kicked for Jacksonville State University in 2001) and the first woman to play in the SEC. How fun would it be to watch her compete against returning placekicker Drew Alleman for playing time and to see her hopefully become a valuable member of the LSU football team? Check out this video of her making a 90 yard goal during a LSU women's soccer game. Geaux Mo!
Not only is she a superstar athlete, but she was also the 2011 Homecoming Queen and she will be featured on the reality TV show, The Real Winning Edge, airing September 2012. Mo posted on her Facebook page, "Absolutely overwhelmed and humbled by all of the amazing support that has been pouring in surrounding tryouts. There is so much power in prayer, so please know that I truly appreciate every single one of you! Today is the first of a 3-day tryout, so I would appreciate continued prayer through this week."
