One of my favorite reality shows, CMT's Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team, is back for it's 6th season. The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders have to be the most popular cheerleading squad in the world, because women come not only from all over the country to tryout, but from all over the world (one woman came from Australia). About 500 women show up at Cowboys Stadium for auditions and by the end of auditions 69 women were invited to the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Training Camp. Just like with the NFL, making it to training camp does not guarantee you a spot on the squad. DCC Director Kelli McGonagill Finglass and DCC choreographer Judy Trammell carefully watch the candidates and critique the ladies on their dance skills, kicks, and even their appearance (it may seem a little harsh, but we all know that if we saw a cheerleader out there with a little jiggle in the midsection we would be critiquing as well). If you've ever watched HBO's Hard Knocks, it's very much like that show in that you get to know some of the candidates and learn their stories, so it can be hard to see some of them get cut. I believe that I've been watching the show since I stumbled upon it the first season when flipping by CMT and it's always fun to see the women who make the squad during the football season, because you got to watch their journey to their dream and in a way, you feel like you know them. (I even avoid looking at pictures or video of the squad during the season, because I don't want to know who made the squad until I see it on the show.) Never watched the show? I've included the first three episodes of this season below. New episodes come on Fridays at 10 ET.
