You might remember back in March that I interviewed director Matthew Cherry about his journey from the NFL to the entertainment industry (See Lights, Camera, Action). His story is a lesson for all in creating your own opportunities. Now, Matthew has written and directed a film about a NFL player who is released from his fourth team and forced to move back home to do some soul searching and to figure out his life after football. However, The Last Fall isn't just about football. As Matthew stated to me, "It's really more of a love story with football in the background." From The Last Fall Facebook page:
After several years in the playing professional football, KYLE BISHOP is released from his fourth team in three years and returns to his home town, broke and at a complete loss about what he will do for a living. After an initially cold reception, Kyle reconnects with FAITH DAVIS, his old high school flame. Ready to leave football far in the past, Kyle gets a job at a local gym and starts planning a new life with Faith and her young son, VON. However, when Kyle unexpectedly gets a lucrative offer from another professional team, he is torn about what path to take…
The film stars Lance Gross, Nicole Beharie, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Darrin Dewitt Henson, Harry Lennix, and Keith David. After watching the trailer, my only question to Matthew was "When can I see this film??" I think it will have something for men and women and will make a great date night movie. I love a good romance and the fact that it's set in the world of football has me more than excited about the release of this film.
