The first half of the Carolina Panthers and Green Bay Packers game was an exciting one for Panthers fans, because Cam Newton was on fire! The Packers did not look like the same Super Bowl Champion team that we saw in the opening week of the season against the New Orleans Saints.
Aaron Rodgers and the Packers offense spent most of the first quarter on the sideline.
Packers safety Nick Collins was injured in the fourth quarter while trying to tackle Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart and had to be carried off the field on a stretcher. It's always scary to see a player down, especially when they aren't moving. I was relieved to see that he was able to move his legs and that he was able to give a little wave as he was being carried off the field. I pray that he will be ok as we await to hear the extent of his injury.
The Packers looked more like themselves in the second half and were able to come from behind to beat the Panthers 30-23. Cam Newton threw for 432 yards and ran for 53 yards, topping the numbers he put up in his rookie debut against the Arizona Cardinals. Packers receiver Donald Driver became the Packers all-time leader with 9,666 receiving yards.
