100th Post: Summer Style

Happy 100th post to me!  Thank you to everyone who's been reading since Post 1, to those who joined the party somewhere between posts 2 and 99, and a thank you and welcome to those who are reading Blitz And Glam for the very first time!

This post idea comes from my friend and VH1's Football Wives star Dawn Neufeld:

@BlitzAndGlam Thought about you this morning – thoughts on dressing appropriately for work when the heat is on? #blogpostidealess than a minute ago via web Favorite Retweet Reply

Great post idea!  It's only early June, but the temperature is already scorching and deciding what to wear to work can sometimes be difficult.  You want to make sure that you won't suffer a heat stroke on your way to and from work or while running around town during the work day, but you also want to make sure you're appropriately dressed and still look professional.  So how do you strike the perfect balance?  Here are some of my go-to looks for spring and summer.

Light Colors and Lightweight Material
Dolce & Gabbana, Oscar De La Renta, Calvin Klein

Wearing light colors (and lightweight material) is one of the best ways to keep cool, so save your black for the fall and winter.

Skirts and Sleeveless Shirts
Topshop, Topshop, Emporio Armani, Kate Spade

Color blocking is in so pair a skirt with a sleeveless shirt (and throw on a cardigan for the office).

The Shirtdress
Stuart Weitzman, Milly, Theory, Topshop

Shirtdresses are great for hot weather. Add a blazer to give it a more professional look.

White and Bright
Jones New York, Elie Tahari, Theory, Calvin Klein

It's time to break out the white. Mix in bright colors-blouse, shoes, and/or accessories-to stand out.

Two other looks that I did not show that are great for hot weather are the sheath dress (think First Lady Michelle Obama…a great reason to show off killer arms!) and capri pants (add a blazer and heels and you're ready for the office).  Let me know your spring and summer work wardrobe ideas!

Ohhh! I like the "White and Bright" look! White and pink look great together. Great post Tamara, and congrats on the 100th post!

These are great wardrobe suggestions. I've always had problems picking the appropriate attire for work because it gets HOT in Atlanta. And since I'm a high school teacher, I have to be careful that I'm covered appropriately. (And the tattoo on my leg makes it even more challenging to find outfits.)
