Fantasy Friday – Marc Jacobs Wellington Satchel

Last weekend I took an unexpected trip to the mall.  I didn't plan on going.  The mall was not on my radar.  I was simply taking a trip to the bookstore to do a little browsing, when I ran into a friend.  The friend suggested that we go to the mall.  The first store we went into was Nordstrom.  We were browsing the handbags when out of nowhere a light shined down on this one bag and everything around it faded away.  It was love at first sight.

The saleslady noticed my attraction to the bag and quickly came over to unlock it for me so I could try it on.  As soon as I slipped it on my shoulder I realized that this was not just any bag.  This was not a one size fits all bag.  Ladies, this bag was made just for me–it was a perfect fit and it fits my style.

My general style is classic and the Marc Jacobs Wellington satchel is the definition of classic–it is timeless.  It's made of supple goatskin leather, so it feels great to the touch.  It has a not-too-small curved front pocket that is perfect for your cell phone or whatever you would want quick access to when you're out and about.  One other aspect that I really love is that the branding is discreet.  I've never been a fan of being a walking billboard.  I don't generally wear apparel or shoes or carry bags that have the brand name displayed all over them.  If a person really knows a brand, then they will know what I'm wearing or carrying.  If they don't, that's fine too.  Hopefully, they will like what I'm wearing or carrying because it's nice and appealing, and not just because of the brand name.

The saleslady let me know that the Wellington had just arrived to their store that day and it was the only one in stone that they had.  Noticing how great the bag looked on me (yeah right, just wanting to make a sale), the saleslady asked if she should ring the bag up for me.  Whoa, whoa, whoa.  Slow down.  I was just admiring and drooling.  I didn't say I was ready to whip out the plastic.  So she asked if I would like her to hold it for me, because several people had admired it that day and she would hate for me to miss out.  I didn't realize this was a one-of-a-kind bag (it's not), but sure, put it on hold and then call me when someone comes and buys it for me.  Thanks.  This price on this bag? $1295.

So, unfortunately, the bag and I parted ways, but I feel that we're destined to be together (can't you just see this bag featured in my next What's In My Bag? post?).  Until then, Wellington, you have solidified your spot in my fantasies…

I love it!  I looked at one on that style (not that price) last fall and fell in love with it.  No, I didn't buy it because it was around the time disaster struck the house.  When I was staying at the Residence Inn I saw it again.  Still didn't get it.  Looked for it online about a month ago but can't find it.  So, I know how you must feel when you see that "dream" purse.  It looks like you.

I just recently caught up with your site.  Great!!!!!   I LOVE the bag. Just my style!  I just recently got into expanding my bag collection and this one would be great…even better if it goes on sale.
